Public Relations effort leads to a 10 minute Starrett feature on “Made In America” TV Series – The Travel Channel.

Lancaster, Mass. U.S.A. (November 8, 2006) — McCue & Associates LLC, a B2B marketing firm located in Central Massachusetts, announced that they succeeded in landing their client, The L.S. Starrett Company, a feature episode on the “Made In America” TV Series which airs Tuesday nights at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on the Travel Channel.  The show, currently rated the No. 2 series on the Travel Channel, is produced and hosted by Mr. John Ratzenberger, an actor well known for his role as “Cliff Clavin”, the mailman on the popular comedy series “Cheers”.  The informative, entertaining show celebrates the people, places, and products that are uniquely American, saluting the men and women who work with their hands to skillfully make the products that are the backbone of the American economy.

The Starrett episode represents the single largest PR placement in McCue & Associate’s five-year plus history.  The episode first appeared on January 9, 2007 (EST). The episode, combined with subsequent reruns, will be seen by millions of viewers and have a conservative estimated advertising equivalent value of over $1 million dollars.

“We are very pleased with the work McCue has done to identify the opportunity, pitch and place us on Made In America.  The show is a tribute to our employees, displaying their skills and craftsmanship, and an impressive value through the national exposure of our products and brand,” said Mr. Douglas A. Starrett, President & CEO of The L.S. Starrett Company.

“Every year approximately 1,000 companies vie to be included on the show, but only about 40 are chosen,” said Mr. Michael S. McCue, President of McCue & Associates LLC.  “This clearly demonstrates our ability to deliver standout coverage results for our clients.  This is a proud moment for us.  We are thrilled to have made the placement and are very happy for Starrett.”

McCue & Associates reports that they also arranged for regional broadcast, radio and print media to cover the filming of the event, which resulted in TV coverage on New England Cable News and local stations, in addition to articles in major Worcester and Boston newspapers.

About the Filming, Starrett

On July 5th, 2006, John Ratzenberger, host and executive producer of the “Made in America” show, and his film crew rolled into Athol, Massachusetts to shoot an episode at The L.S. Starrett Company headquarters.  Mr. Ratzenberger and his entourage spent a day at Starrett filming, touring the plant and interviewing employees, while learning and observing tool manufacturing processes for products such as calipers, squares, indicators, and electronic precision tools.  He also enjoyed trying his hand at tool making.

Starrett’s 125-year American Tool making heritage, their innovative, high quality products and skilled, dedicated workforce is a great fit for Made In America.  Starrett craftsmanship is alive as well.  They are the last remaining full-line American precision tool company still manufacturing, selling, and servicing products in the United States, and worldwide.
